Trawler Barentsevo More went on sea trials in the Baltic Sea

On August 24, the lead processor-trawler project KMT01 Barentsevo More (NB 935), built at Vyborg Shipyard (part of USC), went on sea trials in the Baltic Sea.

This is the first large-capacity trawler of this project built at a Russian shipyard over the past 30 years to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Barentsevo More is equipped with an advanced trawl system of the latest generation enabling to handle bottom fishing grounds, pelagic fish species and shrimps in various fishery basins.

The freezer trawlers will be among the largest bottom fishing vessels in the North Basin. In addition to their impressive size, they are built to Ice Class that will increase the effective fishing time. The vessels will have an automated modern fillet factory onboard, and will be fitted with the latest equipment for waste-free fish processing, fish meal/ fish oil plant and canning factory.

The series of 4 trawlers project KMT01 has been built turnkey at VSY since 2017 for  Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet JSC, which is a part of North West Fishing Consortium.

The lead vessel Barentsevo More was laid down at Vyborg Shipyard on May 31, 2017 and launched on December 5, 2018. The construction of the vessels is carried out under Russia’s "quota for keel" program providing for placing orders for fishing vessels at domestic shipyards in exchange for additional fishing quotas.
