Launching of the port icebreaker Ob at Vyborg Shipyard

The launching ceremony of the port icebreaker Ob, project Aker Arc 124 (NB 232) ordered by FSUE Atomflot, was held at Vyborg Shipyard PJSC (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) on June 21, 2018.
The port icebreaker of about 12 MW with a breakthrough propulsion system will be supporting the operability of LNG carriers in approach channel and in the port of Sabetta on the Yamal Peninsula. The distinctive feature of the Vessel is an innovative propulsion system with four independently operating azimuth thruster propulsion units about 3 MW each, two in the stern and two in the bow of the Vessel, allowing the most efficient ice performance ahead and astern, maneuvering and performing special tasks in Sabetta port area.
