Start of sea trials for IBSV01 Alexander Sannikov

On May 19, 2018, icebreaking support vessel Alexander Sannikov built by Vyborg Shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) on order of Gazprom Neft left for sea trials in the Baltic.  During the sea trials the vessel will be tested for compliance of its actual performance with the design characteristics, reliability of the equipment and ship systems.

The vessel was built under technical supervision of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping to Icebreaker8 class.

Reference: Icebreaking support vessel Alexander Sannikov is intended to operate at the Arctic terminal of the Novoportovskoye field in the west of the Gulf of Ob. Its primary tasks: escorting tankers during the ice period, supporting safe mooring and loading operations, rescue duty, towing of vessels, fire-fighting, participation in oil spill response operations.
