Official ceremony of lifting the National Flag on the prototype Icebreaker project 21900 M was held in St.-Petersburg
On September 23, 2015 there was held the official ceremony of lifting the National Flag on the prototype Icebreaker "Vladivostok" project 21900 M built at Vyborg Shipyard, a corporate member of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The Customer of the vessel is Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport of Russia, the Construction Manager is FSUE "Rosmorport".
“I think that we have successfully managed the task. No external circumstances could break us: neither sanctions, nor economic difficulties. Today we are ready to deliver to the Customer Icebreaker "Vladivostok" within the terms stipulated by the Contract - in October 2015”, - General director of Vyborg Shipyard Alexander Solovyev opened the solemn Flag-Lifting Ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport Victor Olerskiy, Acting Director of Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport of Russia Sergey Gorelik, President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexey Rakhmanov, representatives of FSUE "Rosmorport", Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and also partners of the shipyard.
“By today's event we are summarizing the preliminary construction results of Icebreaker "Vladivostok"- up-to-date and the most powerful of all diesel-electric powered icebreakers being operated today in the Russian Federation. This once again proved that Russia is the leader in the field of icebreaking fleet construction. At the same time Vyborg Shipyard is building two more vessels of this project and we hope that there will be a continuation as the long series of vessels allows us to raise production efficiency and provide the customer with the best commercial conditions», - mentioned President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexey Rakhmanov.
The keel-laying ceremony of Icebreaker "Vladivostok" was held at Vyborg Shipyard on October 17, 2012. In December, 2012 there took place the keel-laying ceremony of other two Icebreakers project 21900 M. The vessel has ice-breaking capacity up to 1,5 m ice thickness. The vessel is intended for independent ice escorting of heavy-tonnage vessels; towage, fire fighting on floaters and other facilities; salvage and assistance to distressed vessels; transportation of cargos.
