The keel laying of the first SSFDR being under construction against order of Gazflot LLC in interests of OAO GAZPROM has taken place
On July 4, 2008 at Vyborg Shipyard JSC the keel laying of the first semi-submersible floating drilling rig (SSFDR) being under construction against order of Gazflot LLC in interests of OAO GAZPROM within the frames of Shtokman gas-condensate field development program has taken place. Upon completion of the ceremony there was held a press conference. Alexander G. Ananenkov, Member of Board of directors, Deputy Chairman of the board of OAO GAZPROM, Juriy V. Shamalov, General director of Gazflot LLC, Valeriy P. Serdyukov, Governor of Leningrad Region, Georgiy A. Poryadin, Chairman of Board of directors of Vyborg Shipyard JSC, Valeriy G. Levchenko, General director of Vyborg Shipyard JSC have taken part in the press conference. SSFDR will represent self-propelled floating constructions of catamaran type with two pontoons and six stabilizing columns supporting the upper hull and topside structures. They will be outfitted with all necessary equipment for their effective and safe operation in the harsh weather conditions of the Barents Sea and also with all comfortable accommodation for crew of 128 people.
In November, 2007 Vyborg Shipyard JSC and Gazflot LLC have signed the contract for engineering and construction of two floating drilling rigs for operations at Shtokman gas-condensate field. According to contract provisions Vyborg Shipyard has to perform works on engineering and construction of two «turn-key» semi-submersible drilling units, the first rig will be delivered in 2010 and the second one — in 2011. Within the frames of the concluded contract between VSY and Gazflot LLC (subsidiary of OAO GAZPROM) VSY should provide engineering and construction of platforms for works in the arctic conditions in the slough ice of thickness up to 70 cm and outdoor air temperature to — 30 0C, at sea depths of 500 m. The platforms are designed for well— drilling to 7 500 m depth.
The project of the platform MOSS CS-50 designed for operations in the conditions of the north seas was chosen as a Basic Design. The platforms will be constructed under technical supervision of Russian Marine Register of Shipping with implementation to applicable rules and standards of Russian Federation. The design service life of these rigs is supposed to be no less than 20 years with possibility of further prolongation of this period.
