Vyborg Shipyard took part in the international regatta
Last weekend during the international race of sailing vessels and yachts “300 years victory at Gangut” there was held a traditional regatta “Sails of Vyborg”. VSY became the major sponsor of the regatta having rendered essential assistance to organizers and participants of the festival “Sails of Vyborg”. “During 65 years of its existence VSY has gained popularity and prestige and today can be justifiably considered to be a successor of Vyborg shipwrights. About 20 galleys out of 99 rowing boats of the Russian fleet that won the battle against the Swedes on July 27th, 1714 had been built at “Vyborg Shipyards”. Taking active part in our town life the shipyard could not miss such a significant event – 300 years summer anniversary of the victory in Gangut battle », - First Deputy General Director of VSY Kirill Voroshilov noted welcoming yachtsmen. On behalf of the shipyard he presented captains of two oldest yacht-participants ”Sirius” and “Rodina” with certificates of appreciation and noticed that for yacht-winners VSY had prepared a special prize – 2 certificates for buying accessories in the yacht shop.
It is remarkable that for the first time after a long break VSY team took part in the regatta. By the results of the race the VSY team yacht became the third. The regatta distance along the Vyborg Gulf skerries was 11 miles. Further the route of the international race “300 years victory at Gangut” laid through the cities of Finland: Kotka, Hanko and Turku.
