Deputy Minister of RF Economical Development visited Vyborg Shipyard
On June 16, 2016, Vyborg Shipyard, group member of United Shipbuilding Corporation, was visited by Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Nikolay Podguzov. During the meeting Nikolay Podguzov had a look at the Shipyard facilities and visited the production sites, where the main activities on construction of icebreaker “Novorossiysk” project 21900M and icebreaking support vessel “Alexander Sannikov" project Arc 130A are now concentrated.
As Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nikolay Podguzov commented : "We approved the project on construction of the two icebreaking support vessels Arc 130A for “Gazprom Neft” within the Program of Investment Project Support, provided the state guarantees and the possibility of refinancing at a relatively low interest rate. It is important to understand that the projects are implemented efficiently and on time. And today we have been able to make sure that the construction of the lead ship is on schedule and rather soon powerful and unique in many ways vessels will be supplied to the domestic fleet".
General Director of Vyborg Shipyard Alexander Solovyev confirmed that the construction of the two vessels will be performed on the contractual time: "The series of two heavy duty vessels Icebreaker 8 class is planned to be handed over to the customer in summer and autumn of 2017. As well in 2016 we are delivering the last in the series icebreaker project 21900 M "Novorossiysk" and starting construction of a port icebreaker for FSUE Atomflot. We have also signed a contract for four medium-sized fishing trawlers with delivery in 2018-2019, so the order book of Vyborg Shipyard is formed for the next four years. I’d like to mention that it is not limited only to icebreaking vessels, the Shipyard is using all the opportunities that appear in the Russian market of commercial shipbuilding."
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Gazprom Neft and the local authorities. In conclusion the delegation visited Vyborg Machine Engineering Plant, which main activity is production, delivery and service of deck machinery and equipment within the country's declared policy of import substitution. Some of its products have been already used by the Shipyard for construction of icebreakers project 21900 M.
