Hull assembly of IBV Novorossiysk project 21900M was started at VSY
Vyborg Shipyard (corporate member of USC) has started hull erection of the next IBV project 21900 M to be named Novorossisk. The hull is assembled on board of the semi-submersible barge Atlant constructed at Vyborg Shipyard. IBV Novorossisk is the third vessel in the series of the diesel powered icebreakers project 21900М.
Launching of the lead ship of the project 21900 M took place on May 1st 2014. The unique technical operation on launching from the barge was successfully performed on a deep-water range of the Vyborg gulf following which the icebreaker Vladivostok was bound for the yard outfitting quay for fitting-out.
The second icebreaker in the series is under construction in cooperation with Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, Finland, and to be named Murmansk.
