On April 9, 2010 the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accompanied by his Plenipotentiary in Northwest Federal Region Iliya Klebanov and the governor of Leningrad Region Valery Serdyukov visited Vyborg Shipyard JSC.
During this visit the President familiarised with progress of construction works on two semi-submersible floating drilling rigs for LLC Gazflot. The General director of Vyborg Shipyard JSC Valery Levchenko and honoured guests went on pontoons of the Lower Hull of the first SSFDR. Valery Levchenko told that completion of the new-building is close to 100 % and that construction of the Topside is simultaniously carried out at the Shipyard of Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. The General director informed about main technical parametres of the 6thgeneration SSFDRs. The construction is being executed within the Contract terms and with due workmanship.
One more order which was spoken about is an accommodation module for the Prirazlomnaya ice-resistant stationary platform. The completion works on the module are executed by VSY workers in Severodvinsk, in the territory of JSC PO Sevmash.
There was raised a question concerning work load of Vyborg Shipyard JSC which at the present moment is no more than 50 %. Nevertheless, at the shipyard there is kept the most important – the qualified, hard-working personnel. Despite insufficient work load the shipyard by efforts of the educational department continues to train personnel on the main shipbuilding specialities for the future projects.
On his part the President promised to provide support for the shipyard.
