Freezing trawlers under construction at Vyborg Shipyard
Vyborg Shipyard (corporate member of United Shipbuilding Corporation) is building fishing trawlers of the new generation. Two freezing trawlers project KMT01 are being built by the order of Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet JSC. The lead vessel "The Barents Sea" (NB 935) was laid on May 31, 2017, the second in a series (NB 936) was laid in 2018. The series of fishing trawlers-processors project KMT01 consists of four vessels. Each vessel will be equipped with modern trawl equipment of the latest generation enabling to produce up to 140 tons of raw fish products per day.
In January 2018, at Vyborg Shipyard there took place a keel-laying ceremony of the lead trawler (NB 939) project KMT02.01 for Nord Pilgrim. The trawler with Ice3 category reinforcements and the trawl complex of the latest generation is designed for catching bottom fish species. On board there will be installed equipment with planned catching and 24-hour freezing capacity up to 100 tons of fish per day and combined holds for marine products with capacity up to 375 m3. Totally, 4 trawlers project KMT02 of different modifications for Nord Pilgrim, LKT and Atlantrybflot will be built at VSY.
Looking back, in 2016-2017 Vyborg Shipyard signed contracts for construction of a series of medium-size freezing trawlers and crab-catching vessels. The order book of the shipyard includes 14 fishing vessels. In addition, the outfitting works are carried out on three icebreakers projects Aker Arc130A and Aker Arc124.
