Vyborg Shipyard JSC and Gazflot LLC have concluded the contract for engineering and construction of two semi-submersible drilling platforms for operations at Shtokman gas-condensate field. According to contract conditions Vyborg Shipyard has to perform works on engineering and construction of two «turn-key» semi-submersible drilling units, the first unit will be delivered in 2010 and the second one — in 2011. The project of the platform MOSS CS-50 designed for operations in the conditions of the north seas was chosen as a Basic Design. Presently the shipyard has developed process flow diagram and construction methodology of such platforms.
These units are self-propelled floating constructions of catamaran type with two pontoons and six stabilizing columns supporting upper hull and topside structures. They will be outfitted with all necessary equipment for their effective and safe operation in the harsh weather conditions of the Barents Sea, and also with all comfortable accommodation for crew of 128 people.
The platforms will be constructed under technical supervision of Russian Marine Register of Shipping with implementation to applicable rules and standards of Russian Federation.
These rigs are intended for no less than 20 years of operation with possible extension of this term.
