The Chairman of the Russian Federation Government Vladimir V. Putin visited Vyborg Shipyard JSC
On November 25, 2008 the Chairman of the Russian Federation Government Vladimir V. Putin accompanied by the first vice-prime minister Sergey Ivanov, the presidential plenipotentiary on the North-West of Russia Ilya Klebanov and the governor of Leningrad region Valery Serdyukov visited Vyborg Shipyard JSC.
During this visit the head of government has familiarized with the construction works progress of two semi-submersible floating drilling rigs for development of Shtokman gas-condensate field by OJSC Gazprom. This newbuilding is realized together with a project subcontractor — South Korean company Samsung, responsible for performing construction works of topside. The first platform is scheduled for delivery in 2010, and the second one — in 2011. In the near future the management of Vyborg Shipyard is planning to take part in a tender for construction of two more drilling rigs, which will be held by LLC Gazflot.
The Chairman of the Government also showed a keen interest in the building project of a new shipyard in Primorsk. A modern, based on the best achievements of the world experience the shipyard will be able to produce such necessary facilities as gas carriers of displacement to 200 000 tones, ice class tankers over 100 000 tones, drilling platforms and others. Besides, in docks of the new shipyard there will be possibility to admit any vessels, including such large as an atomic GM cruiser «Peter the Great».
The project cost including infrastructure is estimated in 58 billion roubles. According to predictions, the state will receive taxes in amount of 85 billion roubles for 20 years of the new shipyard operation. For realization of this project all the documentation required for credit obtaining will be submitted to Vnesheconombank, and in July, 2009 the documents for getting federal support for which Vyborg Shipyard, as explained the Chairman of the Government, can count on, will be provided to the Russian Federation Ministry of Regional Development.
