On the topside of SSFDR the derrick was erected
On October, 16 in the territory of Samsung Heavy Industry in South Korea the derrick was loaded and erected on the topside of the semi-submersible drilling rig. These works show the actual completion of assembling of SSFDR topside. During three months 30-40 km away from the shipyard the contractors of SHI were performing works of prefabrication of the topside in volume. Upon completion of works the derrick was towed on a special barge to the shipyard of Samsung Heavy Industry, where it was strapped from the barge and lifted up on the topside with a floating crane of 3000t capacity.
The difficulty of this operation was caused not only by necessity of providing the required capacity, lifting height, weather conditions, but also by the coherent coordination of work. It was necessary to erect the derrick on the foundation with pinpoint accuracy. This accuracy was achieved due to installation of the special guiding units on the topside foundation. The overall operation was performed in recordingly short time — 4,5 hours. During the whole work period the representatives of Vyborg Shipyard and of the Customer — Gazflot LLC were overwatching the operation process. The supervisors pointed out high quality of the executed works.
