VSY has concluded the contract with South Korean company Samsung Heavy Industries
As a result of the tender that was held in the end of 2007 for delivery of the topsides for semi-submersible drilling units for LLC Gazflot Vyborg shipyard JSC (VSY) has concluded the contract with South Korean company Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). In accordance with the provisions of this contract, SHI will perform construction works of two mechanically completed units of topsides for semi-submersible floating drilling rigs. During the course of the execution of works the specialists of Russian, South Korean shipyards and of the Customer will close cooperate, and it will allow to complete the construction of SSFDR most effectively and by the time assigned by the Customer, and to exchange with operational experience in realization of such projects. Works under this contract are scheduled to be completed in the 3rd quarter of 2010, when SHI delivers the topsides for the second rig to VSY.
Signing the contract, Vice-President of Samsung Heavy Industries Harris Lee noticed, that involvement of his company into Gazflot project is a significant phase in establishment and development of partner relations between VSY and SHI, he also expressed readiness to co-operate with Vyborg shipyard in realization of future projects.
At the present the process of agreement of some technical issues by representatives of VSY and SHI is coming to the end and this will allow to start the works immediately at the Korean shipyard.
