Christening Ceremony of Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig by name "Severnoye Siyaniye"
On May, 27th 2011 in Southern Korea Christening Ceremony of Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig (SSDR) by name "Severnoye Siyaniye" has taken place. It is the 2nd SSDR of 6th generation constructed by Vyborg Shipyard JSC and Samsung Heavy Industry on order by Gazflot LLC.
Numerous guests, business partners and officials have arrived to take part in ceremony and to congratulate with successful completion of the project.
Christening Ceremony was opened by Acting Vice-President and Technical Director of Samsung Heavy Industry C.H. Park.
First of all he has thanked Vyborg Shipyard for the provided opportunity of participation in construction of this unique Rig, called its “top of efforts and achievements of Samsung Heavy Industry”. Mr. Park has noted the unique technical possibilities of SSDR, allowing its operation in the heavy conditions of Arctic regions.
Then the floor was given to the Deputy Director General of Gazflot LLC Vladimir V. Paliy.
In his opinion, construction of new up-to-date Drill Rigs will open a new page in the history of development of the Russian seas shelf plate, and it becomes significant event not only for Gazprom and Gazflot, but also for the whole Russia.
Mr. Paliy has noticed that the second Rig completely meets the modern requirements on all technical characteristics, and it has capability to solve the great challenges on a continental shelf. On behalf of General Director, Vladimir Vitaljevich has expressed gratitude to all participants of the project, especially - to companies Vyborg Shipyard JSC and Samsung Heavy Industry.
Vyborg Shipyard JSC was represented by Technical director Voroshilov Vladimir Nikolaevich. He has noted record short term of building of SSDR, and also has expressed gratitude to project companies - Moss Maritime, Baltsudoproekt, SHI, to leading suppliers of the equipment, such as NOV, Converteam, Flowserve, Caterpillar, to numerous contractors, first of all - to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Gazpromenergodiagnostika, Dockwise.
In the conclusion, Vladimir Nikolaevich has wished good speed in operation of two SSDR to our customer and investor - Gazflot LLC and Gazprom JSC.
On completion of official part the best SHI workers were presented by memorable souvenirs from Vyborg Shipyard JSC and Gazflot LLC.
Tatyana Paliy, the wife of the Deputy Director General of Gazflot LLC, became the Godmother of SSDR “Severnoye Siyaniye”.
