SSFDR “Polyarnaya Zvezda” is at anchorage in port Kholmsk
The first semi-submersible floating drilling rig “Polyarnaya Zvezda” is at anchorage in port Kholmsk. This is the unique new-generation drilling rig, the most advanced and biggest one of this class in the world.
SSFDR, constructed using advanced technologies at Vyborg Shipyard JSC and at sites of its subcontractor Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., is outfitted with equipment of world leading manufacturers. SSFDR is able to perform the most complicated tasks offshore. Within the ambient temperature ranging from -30 ºС to +45 ºС the Rig is able to drill oil- and gas wells 7500 m deep in water depth from 70 to 500 m. At the moment SSFDR is waiting for frontier registration and customs clearance.
Gazflot LLC as operator of Gazprom JSC intends to use new drilling rig heavily in exploration works offshore the Sea of Okhotsk next year.
Vyborg shipyard JSC continues contrustion of the second similar semi-submersible floating drilling rig “Severnoe Syanie”. Commissioning works and sea-trials take place in accordance with agreed construction schedule of SSFDR.
