Trawler-processor project KMT01 Barents Sea was launched at VSY

Today Vyborg Shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) held a solemn launching ceremony for the lead trawler-processor project KMT01 Barents Sea (NB 935) being built on order by Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet JSC.

The guests were welcomed by General Director of Vyborg Shipyard Alexander S. Solovyev. "I heartily congratulate our partners - everyone who took and will take part in the further construction of this vessel. Launching of a vessel is the most important stage, the first contact with the environment where the vessel will be operated. Fair winds and successful work!"

The ceremony was attended by General Director of Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet Alexey P. Zaplatin, JSC, Governor of Arkhangelsk Region Igor A. Orlov, Chairman of the North-Western Bank of Sberbank PJSC Viktor A.Ventimilla-Alonso, Sea Captain, Veteran of Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet JSC Vladimir P. Lupachev, General Director of Marine Design Bureau Gennady V. Egorov, the godmother of the vessel - Irina B. Bazhanova, Minister of Agriculture of Arkhangelsk Region.

This event is unique because for the first time in the history of modern Russia there is launched a vessel of this size built at the domestic shipyard with advanced equipment and the highest automation level. The vessel was laid on May 31, 2017 and is the lead in a series of four vessels being built turnkey at Vyborg Shipyard. The construction of vessels is carried out within the investment quotas program stimulating placement of orders for construction of fishing vessels at domestic shipyards. The vessel is ordered by Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet JSC, a part of the Non-Profit Partnership North-West Fishery Consortium.

Further completion and outfitting works will be carried out by VSY specialists on the vessel afloat.

Each vessel will be equipped with a trawl complex of the latest generation and a fish processing plant that will enable to produce up to 160 tons of raw fish products per day. The vessel project KMT01 has dimensions 86x17 meters and will have Ice3 class with hull reinforcement up to Arc4 class and designed for operation in the Northern Fishery Basin. On board the vessels there will be installed an automated plant for processing and production of fillets, a fish meal plant, equipment for fish oil production and a canning plant.
